Secret Treasures
Secret Treasures
The creators of the 2016 documentary series Secret Treasures, produced by French documentary filmmakers, take viewers on a captivating journey through historic sites in France, where they are given the opportunity to discover a variety of unique and hidden treasures. The multi-episode project was produced and distributed by Museum TV.
In particular, viewers are invited to explore the building of the French National Assembly and unexpectedly uncover its secrets and treasures. Some of the exquisite works preserved there are kept under the strictest secrecy. This site serves as a temple of democracy in France. The creators introduce audiences to a symbolic world that is far better known for its political history than for the treasures housed within its walls.
In addition, viewers of Secret Treasures discover the Thiers Library, located in the French capital. This institution houses numerous relics that were previously unknown to the public. The exceptional site belongs to the Institut de France, and audiences are invited to embark on a search for its hidden treasures. Historians, experts, and librarians guide viewers through the corridors and floors of this extraordinary place.
The creators of the program also introduce viewers to the Dutch cultural institution Fondation Custodia, located in Paris’s seventh arrondissement. It was founded in 1947 by art historian and collector Fritz Lugt to house collections of drawings, paintings, and engravings. In particular, visitors can admire works by the Old Masters of Europe, including Italian, Flemish, Dutch, and French painters.
